A sung text needs to retain its meaning while following a musical line. Stresses and breaths are placed with the melody so the words stay intelligible.
Acting through singing
I look for the character or the message within the musical phrase. A smile, a playful attitude or a burst of energy can guide the performance as the voice moves from speech to song.
