A role gives the learner someone to hear and respond to. Its character develops with the situation, the relationship and the reaction the scene requires.
Playing the intention
I look for the warmth, mischief or energy each role needs. Rhythm and vocal colour help distinguish the characters while leaving the listener time to follow the exchange.
