Intention before timbre
A sexy voice over isn’t just a tone: it plays with emotion and intention. Round, carnal or breathy depending on the product, it always has the same aim, to captivate the listener. From 1990s radio to today’s fragrance campaigns
I learned this register on the radio in the 1990s, with nightclub and private party commercials, when smooth, enveloping voices were everywhere. Then came more unusual projects, such as sound creations for mobile phones, and later fragrance, chocolate and lingerie campaigns, where sensuality has to stay elegant.
